NOOOO! This is NOT happening now!

So, my wireless card is dead. At least I think (and hope)that is what's wrong. I cannot seem to connect to the internet on my computer. I tried for 3 hours last night and again this morning. I have finally given in and moved over to Marcus's computer, which is not making me happy. His computer is fine. I even kind of prefer typing on his keyboard. But I miss MY computer. It has my bookmarks and my pictures and a purple background and my shortcuts and it's MINE. Guess Deano and I will be going to Best Buy today to get some help from the Geek Squad. [Speaking of which, did you know that they really drive that silly little car when they come to your house? It's true.] I cannot believe this is happening, especially during NaBloPoMo (or as Marcus calls it, NaNaBloPop).

I had a fun post with a picture for today, but I need my computer to do it. Boo. SO, let's see. What can we do instead? I know, in honor of my mom's birthday (happy birthday, mom!!), let's have everyone tell me about a birthday memory. It could be a cool party you had, a nice gift you received, whatever you'd like to tell us.

One of my favorite birthday memories is from this past year. Dean was about 7 weeks old on my 31st birthday. We'd had a particularly rough night, preceded by an even rougher day. This was around the time we found out that he's a little lactose intolerant, so we were experimenting with different feeding techniques. The doctor had recommended that I only feed him "sensitive" formula (no lactose) for an entire 24 hours to see if that made a difference. I was still nursing at this point, so needless to say, we were both miserable with him on just bottles of new formula. He woke up at 5am, was not too happy when I popped a bottle in his mouth, and half-heartedly ate. After he was done, he burped, spit up, then nuzzled in for a cuddle. Then he looked up and smiled at me. His very first smile. Just for me. On my birthday. Kind of made the fact that I'd only slept 2 hours that week worth it.

It was no fun sharing a computer with my husband for months because we only had one desk set up... I am happy to have mine and not listen to him say I broke his (which I didn't - he did).

As for birthdays, I will go with my worst - just over a year ago. I was pregnant and SICK! My parents had come into town the day before for a short visit on their way to their time share. We went out to dinner the night before my birthday and I threw up most of what I ate in the restaurant bathroom. I threw up a little more that night. On my actually birthday, I spent the day in bed or at the toilet throwing up. I finally figured out 3 days after my birthday that I had a kidney infection! So I go to spend two days in the hospital. It was not a fun birthday!

Brad and I share a computer, which pretty much sucks, so I feel your pain.
Birthday memory - on my mom's 55th birthday, 5 years ago, my sister and I took her to a spa on Vancouver Island. It was lovely. We all got along and everything! Only snuck out for cigarettes with my sister a few times the whole weekend:)

I'm having computer issues too! Every so often my bottom row of keys decides that it doesn't want to work, so now I need to go to an Apple Store and try and get it fixed...

Anywho, birthday story:

I was a TOTAL geek when I was younger ((and yes...I still am)) and I want to say that this was for my 12th birthday. We had this place in our mall that was WAY cool and was complete with an indoor mini-golf course and lasertag. Well, I remember this birthday only because of this HIDEOUS shirt that I wanted to wear. It was a multi-colored stripe button-up shirt that pretty much made me look like the son of an African chief. Where I got it, I don't remember. I only wish I had a picture of it. I also got some pretty amazing White Power Ranger toys that year complete with Power Ranger gloves that made noise, Sabaa ((the talking sword of the White Ranger)) and the way cool transformable Tigerzord, that I put together that night and played with in my closet because I was supposed to be in bed.

Thanks for not telling my age! The birthday memory I'll share is the one when I went to Ithaca, NY to spend my birthday and Thanksgiving with you. That was so much fun, just the two of us. Remember those two pieces of cake -one chocolate and one carrot - that we shared at the bakery/ice cream store? Mmmm! That was a wonderful birthday.

Love you,
J

Far be it from me to spoil your "birthday memory", but did it ever occur to you that since he was on new formula, the "smile" was, uh, "gas".

Sorry.

Sorry I posted my comment twice.

That wasn't gas! It was a real smile from precious little Dean. I'll go fuss at Papa for saying that.

Love you,
J

I love that your whole family reads your blog!

My favorite birthday is a few years ago, my husband rented us a condo and a boat at a nearby lake. We spent the whole day "tubing" on a giant hotdog.

I think my favorite Birthday was when I was when I turned 29. My Mother knew that it was a dream of mine to be able to dance (I mean ballroom and CW Dance). I had 2 left feet and no rhythm, or at least I thought that. LOL!!
She signed me up for Dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio near where we lived for my Birthday. I was so happy and scared because I thought she had wasted her money. LOL! Well less than a year later I was dancing with a REAL dance partner and competing in Ball Room and CW Dancing. We received first place in a lot of competitions. It was literally the time of my life and if it had not been for my Birthday it would have never happened!!

Thanks for the memory!

Love,
Sheila
